WORKSHOPS
Our workshops are suitable for a variety of groups and can be altered to suit particular needs. Workshops discuss contemporary artistic questions and themes, or focus on artistic techniques and problems, at an introductory or more advanced level.

CHILDREN’S ACTIVITIES
In association with all exhibitions, on Saturdays from 10:00–15:00 we offer two events for children aged six to ten. Events include an age-appropriate guided tour of the exhibition and a practical workshop. The workshop offers time and space to experiment with a variety of materials, taking the current exhibition as a starting point, allowing children to create their own small work of art. Children’s events are led by the Bielefeld artist Klaus Braun.
Contribution: 15 € to cover all materials and a snack.

SEMINARS
The Kunstverein develops projects in collaboration with universities and other third-level institutions, allowing participants to learn about and get involved in contemporary discourse, reflecting on key questions from various points of view. From November 2019 to January 2020, as part of a seminar on modernist art, students from the program History of Art and Images of the University Bielefeld met weekly at the Kunstverein, developing points of view based on the exhibition WHAT WE MEAN BY FREEDOM. What presuppositions determine how we look at art? What boundaries confine our gaze? And what does freedom mean in the context of art-historical encounters with contemporary art? These questions were examined in short public lectures presented by students during a tour of the exhibition on January 19, 2020. Taking place from May to August 2020, the online project IN THIS LAYERED WORLD, ALL PERCEPTION IS REAL was closely associated with Digital Media and Experiment, a course offered by the Fachhochschule Bielefeld, the city’s University of Applied Sciences. Taking the conditions of online space as their starting point, students developed their own contributions to the platform www.kunstverein-bielefeld.online. Based on the presentation of BLACK PAGES opening online on November 13, 2020, students from the program History of Art and Images of the University Bielefeld will present a brochure, which will be developed in the winter semester 2020/21. The event takes place on January 24, 2021, at 5 pm.
