With They are putting out apples, it must be fall. the Kunstverein Bielefeld is launching the first edi-tion of the Key Chain invitation format. The aim of the invitation is to share the privilege of the “keys” to the institution's exhibition space. Just as a bunch of keys unites several keys, in the spirit of a di-verse authorship, regional and international actors from artistic fields of work and collective practices are invited annually to realize their concepts at the Kunstverein Bielefeld. These perspectives are in-tended to contribute to the further development and networking of the Kunstverein.

This year, the artist-run space Linienstraße is curating an exhibition with works by Nura Afnan-Samandari, Geta Brătescu, Michael Franz, Gabriel Kuri, Paul Niedermayer and Michel Wagenschütz in collaboration with Theodor Dathe.

The artist-run-space Linienstraße is located in Düsseldorf in a former greengrocer's store and serves as both an exhibition space and a studio. By combining art production and exhibition-making in the same space, the project seeks forms of collaboration, on-site production and dialog in both Düsseldorf and Bielefeld.

For the exhibition in Bielefeld, Linienstraße has designed an architecture that mirrors the layout of its four Düsseldorf rooms within the Kunstverein. Just as in Düsseldorf, the spaces in Bielefeld were not originally intended for displaying art, so the group views this exhibition as a form of repurposing.

With this invitation, Linienstraße examines how their (artistic) practice deviates from institutional structures and in which forms collaboration is possible. The aim is to bring the conditions of both ex-hibition spaces into a dialog with each other and to highlight them through parallelism and duplication.
